Daughters of the King (DOK) is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church or churches in communion with it (Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Anglicans).  We have made promises of prayer and service.

We meet the third Saturday of the month from September through May at 9:30 AM in Bacon Hall.  We start each meeting with Eucharist.  After a snack we have a short business meeting followed by a discussion or program.  This year we are discussing the book written in Japanese by Father Hiram Kano and recently translated and published in English entitled Nikkei Farmer on the Nebraska Plains.  

Every year we celebrate the anniversary of Father Kano’s entry into heaven as part of the Episcopalian beatification process.

DOK has four ongoing projects: delivery of bouquets made from the altar flowers to those who are ill or shut in, or celebrating special occasions; a Prayer Chain (open to anyone) to pray for those in need recommended by anyone in the parish; baby baskets of gifts given to newly baptized babies (we had two this year); and chemo caps (55 were delivered) and prayer shawls or lap robes which are knitted by various DOK members and others, then blessed at the altar and given to Fort Collins chemo-therapy clinics or sent to friends of the parish for “no hair days”, or given to those in special need.

We have thirteen members at present and welcome any woman who is interested in prayers and service.  You are welcome to visit us at any meeting!
