The Rev. Lyn Burns, Interim Rector
Born and raised in South Africa, The Rev. Lyn Burns has lived in Colorado for the past 30 years. Her professional background is in corporate marketing. However, feeling called to service, she moved into the non-profit world where she obtained a Certificate in Gerontology from DU, and, along with other faith partners, built an agency that promoted the independence of older adults and people with disabilities through community volunteerism. In 1999, Lyn joined the Colorado Episcopal Foundation in Denver as an Assistant to the President, after which she completed her Masters in Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. During a one-year chaplaincy residency the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Rev. Lyn was ordained to the priesthood and later served as Vicar of St. Benedict in La Veta, Colorado for three years, and as Mission Vicar to St. Thomas, Alamosa Colorado for six months. She became Priest-in-Charge at St. Charles in Fort Morgan in May, 2011. Subsequently she became the Rector of St. Charles in August 2014.
The Rev. Jim Visger, Deacon
Rev. Jim and his wife, Merry Rue, have their roots in Minnesota, although they spent 53 years in Nebraska prior to moving to Colorado. They have two sons; the eldest and his wife live in Lincoln NE and their younger son, wife, and grandchildren live in Longmont and rural Berthoud, CO. They of course are the No. 1 reason for Jim and Merry Rue to be here in Colorado. Jim was ordained to the Diaconate on November 8, 1985 and served at a small parish from 1985 to 1991. He was then called to large parish from 1991 to 2013. Both parishes were in Lincoln, NE. He has served on many boards and commissions, and was on the floor as an alternate Clergy Deputy to General Convention in 2009 and 2012. Jim and Merry Rue moved to Loveland, CO in August 22, 2013 and after a short search they knew St. Paul's would be their church home. Jim began to serve St Paul's as Deacon on Ash Wednesday 2014.
